1st - Configure Opera Preferences:
Go to "Tools > Preferences (Ctrl + F12) > Advanced > Content":
Enter "JavaScript options", uncheck all items and click "OK":
Enter "Style options", uncheck all items in "Display" and click "OK":
After making the above changes, uncheck all items in "Content" (without clicking OK):
Go to "Cookies" and change it to "Accept only cookies from the site I visit":
Go to "Security" and check "Enable Fraud Protection" (optional, but highly recommended): *
* Only available in Opera 9.10 and above (Opera 9.10 is still in pre final, but snapshot builds are already available)
Go to "Network", uncheck "Enable referrer logging" and configure TOR in "Proxy servers" (optional):
Click "OK" to save all changes made above (I will also create a TOR tutorial in a near future, please be patient)!
2nd - Configure Opera Quick Preferences:
Go to "Tools > Quick preferences (F12)":
Change "Block unwanted pop-ups" to "Block all pop-ups" and uncheck "Enable cookies":
3rd - Configure Opera Site Preferences:
Go to "Tools > Quick preferences (F12) > Edit site preferences": *
* I'll use youtube.com (from Google) as an example, because is one of the major sites existing today.
Go to "Cookies" and check "Accept only cookies from the site I visit" (optional, use it only for logging in):
Go to "Content" and check "Enable plug-ins" (to activate your flash player, as required by youtube.com):
Go to "Scripting" and check "Enable JavaScript" (to activate JavaScript, as required by youtube.com):
Click "OK" and youtube.com site will be placed on your Opera's white list (congratulations)!
PS - Go to "Tools > Preferences (Ctrl + F12) > Advanced > Content > Manage site preferences":
As you can see its very simple to create and manage your white list, but do not forget to avoid the use of scripting on it (unless there's no other way). I hope this tutorial will be useful for all you Opera users out there that want to stay secure!
